High School League

School's back in session and so is the ComedySportz High School League. Assemble your team of superheroes to battle the boredom of daily school activities and lame on-campus clubs. You can put ComedySportz on your College application, but then you won't get in. So join the ComedySportz High School League because you want to.

Orientation: Saturday, September 20th 2008, 5:00 - 6:00 pm

Stick around for the 7pm ComedySportz show for only $10!
Welcome to the ComedySportz High School League! The orientation will introduce new schools to the ComedySportz High School League program, as well as remind returning schools of the general procedures for private workshops workshops, booking shows, and other activities that the ComedySportz High School League provides. Teachers, team parents, and club captains are all encouraged to come. Space is limited to 100 people, so please be slightly selective about who comes. Parking is FREE.

Full Day Intensive Workshops

These intensive 6-hour workshops are the best way to learn the fundamentals of Improvisation and the techniques of ComedySportz. Led by our highly trained ComedySportz High School League coaches, we will train your team to be a lean, mean, improv machine. Students will spend the day learning dozens of Improv games designed to teach students about teamwork, leadership, and theater skills. Full day intensive workshops are broken into two segments. Both use the same invoice.

Fundamentals of Improv

This 6-hour intensive will focus on the fundamental skills of improvisation. Students will learn how to start scenes that will engage any audience, react to each other in an entertaining way, and how to maintain an interesting scene for as long as they want. Upon completing this workshop, first year schools will be able to organize an improv show based on the knowledge they learned while returning ComedySportz High School League teams will see immediate improvement in their ComedySportz Shows.

ComedySportz Workshop

This 6-hour intensive workshop will focus on ComedySportz. Teaching students the format of San Jose's longest running live theater show. First year teams will learn the basic format of a ComedySportz show with improv games guaranteed to impress any audience. Returning ComedySportz High School League teams will learn new games to add to their repertoire. Teams must complete the Fundamentals of Improv class before taking the ComedySportz workshop. After completing the ComedySportz workshop, teams will be ready to perform as many ComedySportz shows as they want for the rest of the school year. Teams who are unable to host their own shows will be able to hire a ComedySportz professional to host/referee their shows.

Hiring a Referee

Teams that want to hire a referee for their ComedySportz Show may do so by submitting an invoice at least two weeks before the show. ComedySportz can never guarantee a referee for your show, but we'll try our hardest to make sure you receive all the support you need. Hire a ref online and download the invoice here.

Monthly Workshops

On the 1st Saturday of every month, beginning October 4th 2008, ComedySportz High School League members can attend a free workshop at ComedySportz in downtown San Jose. Workshops are from 10:00am - 12:00pm and will feature diferent skills each month for students to practice. This is a great time to meet members from other teams and to learn from each other. Parking is FREE, but lunch isn't.
